BR-NC Race Meets & Practices
LGRA and All-K9 Races
Each race day, BR-NC holds LGRA (Large Gazehound Racing Association) races for Borzoi and other sighthounds and All-K9 races for any other dog (purebred or cross-bred) that wants to chase the lure.
The dogs run 200 yards on a straight, flat track in mowed pastureland. They chase an artificial lure moving ahead of them on a pick-up line. All dogs must run with properly fitted muzzles and race blankets. (BR-NC has equipment you can borrow if you are new to racing.) Each dog runs a total of three race heats for points and trophies. All races are run according to LGRA rules.

Practices
We encourage owners to practice their dogs thoroughly before entering them in their first race meet. In practices, dogs run alone after the lure for whatever distance the owners requests, making these runs especially good for dogs new to the lure, puppies who need to run shorter distances, older dogs who are not sound enough to race, and dogs recovering from injuries. Practices runs are held on race days between race programs after the end of the race meet. Sign-up is on race day.
BR-NC’s Race Passport
BR-NC awards a Race Passport to dogs who complete a practice run, without fouls, with a proven dog. You can present the Passport to officials at other races as evidence your dog has run “clean.”
